The upcoming iPhone Duo—Apple’s debut foldable smartphone—may feature an expanded set of StandBy capabilities beyond those initially revealed during its unveiling. Fresh information indicates that Apple is currently working on five extra StandBy layouts tailored specifically for the device’s dual-screen design.
The iPhone Duo was unveiled earlier this month alongside the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone 18 Pro. While the traditional candy-bar models have already hit store shelves, the foldable handset is slated for release next month.
Five New StandBy Faces Reportedly in Development
Data shared on X by the tipster @pdfu reveals that code references found within iOS 27.1, alongside testing via the iPhone Duo simulator, point to five previously unannounced StandBy layouts: Home Camera, Home Modular, Flow, Fade, and Snoopy.

The Home Camera choice is geared toward smart home surveillance, potentially showing a solitary video feed or a multi-view grid accommodating up to nine camera streams. This capability could allow the iPhone Duo to function as a dedicated smart home display when in StandBy mode.
Meanwhile, Home Modular is expected to grant access to home automation accessories and controls, though specific details regarding its layout and capabilities remain scarce in the leak.
Referred to as “ResponsiveArt” within the system code, Flow is anticipated to showcase dynamic or interactive artwork. Details regarding Fade are sparse at present. The Snoopy layout is expected to feature the well-known animated character, mirroring similar Snoopy integrations found across other areas of Apple’s software platforms.

Apple Watch-Like StandBy Customization
Additionally, the leak sheds light on new personalization options for pre-existing StandBy designs, which include Analog, Digital, Classic Calendar, Weather, Photos, Memories, and Shared Albums.
Based on findings from @pdfu, the Analog, Digital, and Classic Calendar layouts may introduce a configuration UI that mirrors the Apple Watch face editor, allowing users to swipe through settings and scroll across choices.
The Analog Clock is said to accommodate various styles, colors, and a pair of widget slots, alongside multiple numeral systems: Arabic, Western/Arabic, Eastern, and Devanagari. The Digital Clock could provide font choices, color adjustments, and three widget spaces across five distinct layouts, designated as StandBy, Stacked, Top, Middle, and Bottom.
Furthermore, the Classic Calendar design is rumored to support adjustable styles, fonts, and colors, with its Date format incorporating a single widget slot.
The source pointed out that the current iPhone Duo simulator does not yet feature a widget registry, preventing a full examination of all available widget choices. Additionally, the Rushmore application—believed to serve as the host for these updated faces—was absent from the iOS 27.1 simulator build during examination.
