Google is launching the Fitbit Air in India on October 2 for Rs. 13,999, focusing on unobtrusive health monitoring. Weighing just 12 grams including its band, the screenless wearable tracks sleep, SpO2, heart rate, and heart rhythm via the Google Health app. Rather than displaying wrist notifications, the device transmits comprehensive data directly to a linked smartphone.
Fitbit Air will be available via the Google Store and various retail partners across India in four colors: Obsidian, Berry, Lavender, and Fog. Built for round-the-clock wear—particularly during sleep—the device boasts a battery life of up to seven days. A rapid five-minute charge yields a full day of power, ensuring uninterrupted sleep tracking.
Emphasizing health metrics over traditional smartwatch capabilities, the tracker continuously monitors heart rate, heart rate variability, and resting heart rate. Additionally, it features heart rhythm monitoring for Afib alerts, alongside SpO2 tracking and sleep stage analysis.
Sleep tracking is central to the design of the Fitbit Air. Because the compact, screenless device lacks a display, users are not disturbed by notifications during the night. Once the tracker syncs, the Google Health app presents metrics on sleep duration, stages, and associated trends.
Google also connects Fitbit Air with the Google Health Coach to deliver customized insights. This coach analyzes activity and health trends to offer tailored recommendations inside the app. Each purchase includes a three-month trial of Google Health Premium, which grants access to the Health Coach features.
Furthermore, the Fitbit Air supports automatic workout recognition through the Google Health app. While everyday exercises are tracked automatically, users can also initiate workouts from the application or log them manually. According to Google, the precision of workout detection adapts and personalizes as the device gathers more activity history.
Included with the device is the Performance Loop Band, crafted from recycled materials to ensure a breathable, comfortable fit. Google additionally provides Active and Elevated Modern bands suited for athletic pursuits and daily wear. The core pebble can easily be swapped between compatible bands without requiring a new tracker.
Google characterizes the Fitbit Air as a “screenless wearable” engineered for comfortable, continuous wellness tracking, relying on the companion phone app for all in-depth data visualization.
Priced at Rs. 13,999, Fitbit Air enters India as a dedicated health tracker rather than a traditional smartwatch, standing out for its display-free build, seven-day battery life, and specialized sleep tracking capabilities.
