Google and Xreal have introduced the Aura extended reality (XR) glasses at a starting price of USD 1,099, marking a drop from the initial pre-order cost of USD 1,279. This discounted rate will remain active through the end of 2026.
Google Xreal Aura Price and Availability
The Xreal Aura is currently open for orders across the US, Canada, and South Korea. The configuration equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage carries a USD 1,099 price tag, whereas the upgraded version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is available for USD 1,299 during the promotional window. Deliveries are anticipated to commence by mid-November.
In Japan, sales are scheduled to kick off on November 2, 2026, with broader international releases slated for the following year. Additionally, Xreal verified that buyers who placed pre-orders at the original, higher rate will be automatically refunded the price difference.
This competitive pricing sets the stage for a showdown with Meta’s upcoming VR glasses, which carry a price tag of USD 1,299.99 and a targeted release in spring 2027.

Lightweight Design and Android XR Features
Tipping the scales at 95 grams, the Aura headset links via a cable to a dedicated Android XR computing module. This configuration maintains a featherlight feel on the face while enabling wearers to overlay virtual displays onto their physical environment.
The hardware delivers a 70-degree diagonal field of view, though its see-through build introduces certain trade-offs when contrasted with fully immersive virtual reality headsets.
According to Google and Xreal, the device debuts with more than 150 custom-built XR experiences, including immersive cinematic titles such as Andy Serkis’ Nevatars and Galapagos: The Last Eden.
Owners can hook up a PC or a portable gaming device directly to the computing unit via USB-C to project their screens onto the glasses. Furthermore, Google’s Gemini AI assistant is integrated to field queries regarding whatever the user is looking at.
Google Photos and New Accessories
An upcoming XR update for Google Photos introduces a spatial gallery, empowering users to browse their image collections in a 3D setting. Individuals can interact with their memories using hand gestures and expand chosen pictures into three dimensions.
To bolster productivity and gaming, Xreal collaborated with GameSir on a wireless gamepad featuring swap-out D-pads, a charging cradle, and a specialized Gemini button. A foldable wireless keyboard was also revealed alongside it, though cost details and launch dates for both add-ons have yet to be disclosed.
