Tether has locked in commitments from 15 Bitcoin mining firms, mining pools, and hardware manufacturers to back its open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK) as the stablecoin issuer scales up its artificial intelligence automation technology.
On October 24, the company announced that these partners will build software integrations to link their mining operations to a unified platform. Tether anticipates the infrastructure will enable automated management and monitoring tools across a variety of mining setups.
Tether Gains Support from 15 Firms for Bitcoin Mining Software
The roster of participating companies features Bitdeer, Bitmain, Canaan, MicroBT, F2Pool, Foundry Digital, Luxor Technology, and OCEAN. Additional contributors include ACME Swisstech, Elektron Energy, EMCD, Heatbit, Proto, SpiderPool, and Stratum V2.
Every partner has agreed to create and sustain software links enabling their hardware to interface with the MDK. This setup aims to run applications across equipment from multiple hardware makers without needing individual management programs for each device.
That said, Tether has clarified that not all 15 contributors have finished their integrations yet. The announcement highlights commitments to build rather than fully operational deployments.
This initiative builds upon Tether’s initial rollout of the open-source MDK framework back in April 2026, which was designed to give operators deeper command over their machinery, power usage, and operational metrics.
How Tether’s MDK Connects Bitcoin Mining Hardware and Software
Mining facilities frequently deploy hardware from diverse brands, each demanding proprietary management software. Managing thousands of units spread across various sites thus presents significant hurdles for operators.
To solve this fragmentation, the MDK utilizes software modules known as Workers. Each collaborator maintains a designated Worker that converts data from their specific hardware or pool services into a standardized format.
Consequently, developers can create monitoring utilities and automated programs that interact with compatible mining setups through a singular interface.
Addressing the necessity for shared software standards, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino remarked, “That does not work at scale if every machine speaks a different language.”
Furthermore, the architecture ensures that manufacturers keep ownership of their proprietary technology while deciding which capabilities are exposed to developers.
Tether Uses QVAC AI Agent to Automate Bitcoin Mining Operations
Tether also verified that its QVAC mining agent is currently running on the MDK, linking the artificial intelligence application directly to mining hardware via the common framework.
The firm anticipates these AI utilities will assist operators in keeping tabs on hardware health, spotting operational faults, and tuning mining activities. Nevertheless, Tether has yet to release independent performance metrics verifying gains in power efficiency or reduced electricity expenses.
This initiative follows Tether’s debut of an open-source Mining OS platform in February, which supplies tools to oversee site operations, power usage, and hardware.
Beyond mining software, Tether’s broader AI ventures include joining Tenstorrent’s funding round on October 20, which secured USD 1.5 billion at a valuation of USD 6.2 billion.
Tether Plans Stable MDK 1.0 Release by the End of December 2026
Tether planned to showcase MDK version 0.11 at the Plan ₿ Forum held on October 23–24 in Lugano, Switzerland, while targeting a stable version 1.0 release prior to the close of 2026.
In the interim, developers can utilize the existing open-source codebase to test connections and engineer applications. The MDK is compatible with Linux, macOS, and Windows, accommodating development across diverse operating systems.
Tether remains open to welcoming additional equipment makers, mining companies, and software creators into the fold. Future expansions will rely on partners building and supporting their respective Workers.
