Hex Trust’s USDX has achieved a milestone by becoming the initial stablecoin to integrate Flare Confidential Compute, enabling onchain reserve verification while maintaining the privacy of sensitive reserve balances.
This innovative Proof of Reserves framework marks the premier institutional deployment of Flare Confidential Compute, which has debuted on Songbird. The system caters to use cases requiring blockchain applications to obtain verifiable institutional data without publicly exposing foundational financial records.
Hex Trust supplies USDX reserve data via two channels: a publicly accessible reserve balance and a confidential cash reserve balance. Both are evaluated within a Trusted Execution Environment by Flare Confidential Compute, which verifies that the aggregate reserves match or exceed the total supply of USDX circulating throughout the ecosystem.
Rather than exposing these balances onchain, the mechanism signs and broadcasts an outcome verifying whether USDX maintains a 1:1 backing ratio or higher. The underlying private figures are kept entirely confidential.
This verification outcome also serves a direct function inside the Flare ecosystem. Because USDX functions as collateral within the Songbird FAssets system, its data feed is transitioning to this new reserve-based benchmark. Decentralized exchanges can leverage the same outcome to price USDX, with feed metadata signaling whether the reserves satisfy necessary coverage requirements.
This rollout highlights how confidential computing can address a significant barrier to institutional blockchain adoption, enabling institutions to demonstrate financial metrics to smart contracts without disclosing commercially sensitive documentation. According to Flare, this architecture could scale to facilitate private net asset value (NAV) calculations, collateral checks, credit histories, and regulatory compliance data in the future.
