According to a financial disclosure published on October 8, US President Donald Trump acquired up to USD 1.6 million in NVIDIA stock and disposed of up to USD 1 million during the month of August. This release coincided with the day Trump prepared to present NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang with the National Medal of Science, which is the nation’s highest government distinction for achievements in science.
These NVIDIA transactions formed a small part of the hundreds of trades executed by Trump in August. The filing has attracted notice because the Trump administration is currently weighing regulations that could impact NVIDIA, such as controls on the export of the company’s high-end chips.
NVIDIA Trades Revealed in Latest Disclosure
The recent filing from Trump—signed on September 17 and released to the public on Thursday—details both purchases and sales of NVIDIA shares throughout August. The reported valuation ranges show that the president acquired as much as USD 1.6 million in the stock while liquidating up to USD 1 million.
However, the report does not state that Trump hand-picked these transactions. Davis Ingle, a White House spokesperson, explained that third-party asset managers independently oversee the president’s investments by tracking established market indexes. Ingle maintained that these autonomous managers executed the trades, ensuring a complete absence of conflicts of interest.
Jensen Huang Set to Receive National Medal of Science
The timing of the stock disclosure aligns with an event where Trump is set to bestow the National Medal of Science upon Huang. This accolade honors US citizens who have delivered remarkable advancements in scientific understanding spanning the engineering, mathematical, biological, and physical sciences.
Huang joins a select group of tech figures being honored by the administration. Other recipients slated to receive the National Medal of Science include Google co-founder Sergey Brin and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
NVIDIA Faces Policy Uncertainty
The timing of the NVIDIA trade disclosure is significant given that the administration is currently evaluating regulatory measures that may shape the chipmaker’s commercial landscape. Export controls targeting advanced NVIDIA processors remain a critical matter for the enterprise as Washington persists in regulating the distribution of sophisticated semiconductors to foreign markets.
Because NVIDIA relies heavily on the market demand for cutting-edge processors utilized in data centers and artificial intelligence platforms, US export regulations remain a pivotal element influencing its global operations.

Trump’s Portfolio Includes Hundreds of Trades
The NVIDIA activity was situated within a much broader collection of disclosed trades made by Trump. The filing outlines hundreds of portfolio movements made over the course of August.
The administration continues to assert that Trump’s financial holdings are managed completely apart from any oversight or input by the president or his relatives. Consequently, the disclosure places a simultaneous spotlight on two distinct elements concerning NVIDIA: the investment activity within Trump’s portfolio and the formal administrative acknowledgment of Huang’s technological and scientific achievements.
