Meta’s latest artificial intelligence agent, Muse, remains unavailable to users in India, as access is currently restricted to adults in the United States and Canada. The company launched Muse in the US on September 8 and extended availability to Canada on September 18. Meta has not yet announced a timeline for bringing the tool to India.
Unlike Meta AI—which is already accessible to Indian users via Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp primarily for answering questions—Muse is a more advanced tool. Operating via its own dedicated browser and cloud computer, it is capable of executing tasks across multiple applications. It continues to run even after the user closes the app, prompting for user authorization before executing actions such as purchasing items or sending emails.

Why a VPN Will Not Help
Although some online forums have recommended utilizing a US-based virtual private network (VPN) to access the Muse website from India, this method is unsafe and ineffective. Meta’s terms of service require individuals to be physically present in a supported country. Because a VPN fails to alter a user’s actual physical location, using one violates these rules, creating a risk that connected Meta accounts could be suspended.
Mobile devices present an additional barrier, as the availability of Muse in the Google Play store or App Store relies on the region configured for the account. The application is completely absent from the Indian App Store.
What It Costs, and What Indians Can Use Instead
Muse provides a limited free tier alongside paid options. The Power subscription is priced at USD 20 per month (roughly Rs. 1,900), while the Max subscription costs USD 100 per month (roughly Rs. 9,500), with both plans processed through Google or Apple. Presently, the platform’s payment and shopping functionalities are restricted to users in the US.
Users in India interested in experiencing the technology that powers Muse can access its underlying model, Muse Spark 1.3, on OpenRouter on a pay-per-token basis. This provides interaction with the model itself rather than the complete Muse agent experience, which includes browsing and task management. For now, Meta AI continues to serve as the practical choice for individuals using Meta’s platforms in India.
While Meta indicates that Muse will eventually roll out to additional regions, no specific launch date has been set for India. Anyone considering unofficial workarounds should carefully consider the danger of account suspension against the minimal advantages of such methods.
