Crypto Scam News: Suspected Wallet Attack Involves USD 86 Million
Data from The Verge published on October 10, 2026, connected digital asset thefts to potential tampering involving Ledger hardware wallets distributed via CryptoBillis, a reseller based in Southeast Asia.
The findings indicated that an illicit hardware modification may have captured recovery phrases during the initial wallet configuration process. The publication noted that upwards of USD 86 million in cryptocurrency was allegedly drained from hundreds of separate wallets. In response, Ledger reportedly requested that the vendor halt sales pending an investigation.
Telangana Crypto Fraud: 500 Investors Allegedly Cheated
In an unrelated incident, law enforcement in Telangana detained two individuals hailing from Andhra Pradesh on October 11 regarding an alleged investment scheme affecting approximately 500 investors, with damages surpassing Rs. 10 crore.
Based on a PTI report featured on Rediff, the suspects allegedly guaranteed that principal amounts would double within a two-year span, alongside providing referral commissions reaching up to 25% for bringing in new participants.
What Investors Should Know
Although assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum saw upward movement on the day, ongoing weekly declines throughout multiple leading cryptocurrencies point to inconsistent trading conditions. Furthermore, the recent fraudulent schemes emphasize the necessity of authenticating investment platforms, safeguarding recovery seed phrases, and steering clear of schemes promoting guaranteed profits.
Because digital asset values change rapidly, participants are advised to review current pricing figures prior to executing financial trades.
