L-Acoustics, an audio technology company, is applying artificial intelligence to resolve a persistent live music challenge: maintaining vocal clarity amid high onstage volume. The firm’s Source Intelligence platform utilizes machine learning to isolate a singer’s voice from external audio interference, such as background instrumentation, audience noise, and venue echoes. Major productions have already adopted the system, including Céline Dion’s Paris residency, alongside audio professionals contributing to the development who work on Harry Styles’ tours.
How AI Helps Singers Sound Clearer
Concert microphones capture far more than just the vocals. Interference from drums, guitars, stage monitors, and the reverberation of expansive arenas frequently muddies the mix. Historically, sound engineers have relied on filters and similar processing tools to mitigate this bleed, though these adjustments can compromise the natural quality of the performance.
Source Intelligence employs an alternative method. The machine-learning system detects the vocalist’s voice and extracts extraneous audio instantaneously, enabling engineers to deliver a purer vocal track with less dependence on traditional processing methods.
L-Acoustics reports that the software is capable of suppressing non-vocal sounds by as much as 40 decibels. Operating on the company’s L-ISA Processor II, the technology is built to integrate directly within its proprietary audio ecosystem.

Céline Dion’s Return to the Stage
Céline Dion’s comeback performances have cast a spotlight on the engineering supporting her concerts. Throughout her Paris residency, sound teams have utilized a precise speaker configuration to maintain uniform audio distribution throughout the arena.
The deployment features numerous loudspeakers strategically placed around the venue, ensuring clear listening experiences across all seating sections. Source Intelligence provides an additional safeguard by filtering out ambient noise surrounding the lead vocals.
The objective is direct: maintain the nuance and emotional impact of Dion’s voice without letting the venue’s massive scale overshadow it.
Harry Styles’ Tour Also Explores the Technology
Solotech, the production firm managing audio for Harry Styles’ tours, has been named by L-Acoustics as a beta partner for the Source Intelligence platform. This partnership highlights the expanding enthusiasm for deploying AI to solve practical audio challenges during massive live events. For touring audio engineers, enhanced vocal isolation translates to fewer compromises when artists move dynamically across the stage or perform near powerful loudspeakers.
