Elon Musk’s xAI is reportedly evaluating a comprehensive revamp of its subscription model that would unify Grok and X into a cohesive four-tier framework. Bloomberg reports that the prospective setup would span from a complimentary option featuring stricter usage caps for Grok to a USD 100 monthly Ultra tier tailored for power users. This potential overhaul aims to streamline the existing arrangement, which currently maintains distinct subscription paths for X and Grok.
These prospective updates arrive as xAI expands Grok’s capabilities and seeks to grow its paying audience. Nevertheless, xAI has not officially validated the four-tier layout nor specified a potential release date.
New Lite Plan Could Combine Grok And X Features
Among the discussed additions is a USD 8 monthly Lite option, which would bundle Grok access alongside an X verified checkmark and reduced ad exposure on the platform. The anticipated free tier would maintain Grok availability, albeit with tighter restrictions on usage. Bloomberg’s coverage omits specifics regarding the fourth tier, leaving the complete hierarchy partially unconfirmed.
Implementing this model would offer customers a single subscription path for services currently purchased independently. Consequently, individuals who utilize both X and Grok could select a tier without juggling two distinct billing systems.
Ultra Tier Could Target Power Users
At the apex of the envisioned framework sits the USD 100 monthly Ultra tier, designed for individuals demanding extensive access to xAI’s services. This top-level tier is slated to incorporate Grok Bot, an AI agent engineered to execute complex tasks rather than merely answer standalone prompts.
Grok Bot forms a key component of xAI’s wider strategy to develop AI agents capable of performing work autonomously on behalf of users. Currently, xAI characterizes Grok Bot as a persistent digital teammate capable of managing operations via a cloud computer environment.
Current Plans are Spread Across Grok and X
Should this restructuring move forward, it would supersede a fragmented array of subscription choices. Presently, X offers standalone Basic, Premium, and Premium+ tiers, whereas Grok operates via its own dedicated free and paid versions.
Present Grok subscriptions feature options like SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, and expanded capacity tiers, each carrying distinct limits and features. Furthermore, xAI has recently transitioned toward a unified weekly usage pool for paid Grok customers, facilitating access across multiple Grok applications.

xAI has Yet to Confirm the New Pricing Structure
The discussed four-tier arrangement is still under review, and an official launch timeline has not been established. Specific capabilities for the fourth tier and any impacts on current subscribers remain unannounced.
If implemented, the consolidated framework would merge Grok’s artificial intelligence tools with X’s social networking perks under a single pricing model. In the interim, consumers should view these reported rates and functions as prospective concepts rather than definitive products.
