Ripple has teamed up with Stripe-backed Privy to integrate embedded cryptocurrency wallets into the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Through this collaboration, developers gain the ability to build wallets directly into financial apps, enabling seamless transactions using XRP, Ripple USD (RLUSD), and other network assets.
Shared on October 13, the partnership coincides with network metrics revealing that AI-driven payment services have surpassed 14 million transactions. Even so, the overall financial value being transferred is relatively modest relative to the high volume of transactions.
Privy to Provide Embedded XRP Ledger Wallets
Privy announced that its infrastructure will enable developers to generate XRPL wallets, sign transactions, and facilitate transfers. Consequently, customers using these integrated financial apps can make payments without installing standalone wallet applications or managing private keys themselves.
Additionally, the firm intends to let users export recovery phrases or private keys. This feature ensures that customers can transition their wallets away from a single application rather than remaining bound to one service provider.
According to Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, the alliance will power offerings spanning “from payments and stablecoin experiences to emerging forms of agentic commerce.” The announcement did not name any specific financial apps slated to debut with the integration.
XRP Ledger AI Payments Exceed 14 Million
Data from the XRPL AI Hub dashboard indicates that cumulative transactions have climbed past 14.3 million alongside 169 registered merchants as of October 14. The platform monitors payments processed via x402 services, which empower software programs to buy access to digital resources.
The metrics reflect cumulative payments of roughly 6,992 XRP and 12,805 RLUSD, pointing to a high frequency of low-value transfers. Nevertheless, these numbers do not clarify the exact count of unique users or the revenue generated by merchants.
Previously, Ripple disclosed that AI agent payments had reached 13 million, making up approximately 25% of overall XRP Ledger traffic. That metric comes directly from the company and does not reflect the aggregate financial worth of these automated transactions.
x402 Lets AI Agents Pay for Online Services
Operating via x402, an automated software agent can request fee-based data, process a payment invoice, and remit funds. Upon confirming the payment, the service provider delivers the requested data. Such a workflow permits frequent, micro-scale transactions without requiring a traditional checkout interface for every single interaction.
As an illustration, an AI tool gathering market data might pay a vendor for a single query, prompting the vendor to supply the data once payment is confirmed.
Privy explained that enterprises can leverage server-side wallets to store funds and approve transactions, though developers retain responsibility for programming when their software is authorized to spend money. Furthermore, the company intends to implement transaction policy controls to oversee wallet operations.
To encourage automated payments using XRP and RLUSD, Ripple launched its XRPL AI Starter Kit back in June. By July, Ripple joined the x402 Foundation, which functions under the Linux Foundation after being initially created by Coinbase.
Stripe Ownership Expands Payment Infrastructure
Stripe brought Privy into its fold in July 2025, following its acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure enterprise Bridge earlier that year. Privy maintains its role of delivering wallet solutions for corporate clients embedding digital assets into their platforms.
Privy CEO Henri Stern remarked, “Stablecoins are changing how money moves.” The firm also intends to incorporate gas sponsorship into its XRPL support, though a specific launch timeline was omitted. Both capabilities form part of the roadmap outlined by the company.
In a separate development, Standard Chartered recently rolled out institutional custody services for RLUSD in Dubai. This offering operates independently of the Privy collaboration and caters to qualified institutional entities instead of retail users utilizing embedded wallets within consumer apps.
