Ubisoft has officially announced that Rainbow Six Mobile will permanently close its servers on January 15, 2027. Following years of development and testing, the mobile shooter officially launched in February 2026, giving it a remarkably brief lifespan considering the resources invested in its creation. In a statement shared with the community, the development team wrote, “There’s no easy way to put it: we have made the difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile. The game will remain available until January 15, 2027. The next season will be released as planned next week.”
Fans can continue playing until the final shutdown date, and the upcoming season is still on track to debut as scheduled. While Ubisoft stated that the closure aligns with its long-term strategy, the company did not provide a specific reason for the cancellation.
The sudden termination has raised immediate concerns regarding saved user progress, paid purchases, and earned rewards. At this time, Ubisoft has not clarified whether refunds will be issued for past purchases or remaining in-game currency, nor has it addressed if accounts or rewards can be transferred to other titles. The publisher stated that further information will be released in the upcoming weeks, advising users to monitor official channels before making any additional financial investments in the title.
Accounts will remain functional while the servers stay online, but all gameplay and online features will cease permanently once the shutdown takes effect. Ubisoft has not clarified whether user data or achievements will be preserved for future titles, and a policy regarding refunds for unused currency or purchased content remains unannounced.

How PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile Compare
This shutdown highlights the ongoing challenges of sustaining a mobile shooter in a competitive market. PUBG Mobile has maintained a massive audience through battle royale modes, frequent events, and steady seasonal updates. Similarly, Call of Duty Mobile sustains its active player count by combining traditional multiplayer modes, ranked competition, and battle royale gameplay, allowing both titles to cultivate stable, long-term communities.
In contrast, Rainbow Six Mobile pursued a distinct approach centered around tactical team play, distinct operators, and deliberate strategy. Its early exit demonstrates that a well-known franchise name alone does not guarantee longevity in the mobile gaming sector.
