Apple is launching its inaugural foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, in India alongside several other international markets. Unlike previous iPhone rollouts, however, the launch has not generated long lines outside retail locations in India. This is because Apple has barred walk-in purchases in the country, restricting transactions to pre-orders that must be collected from Apple Stores.
Where Buyers Can Walk in
Customers can still seek out walk-in stock at Apple Stores located in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Macao, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Apple has also supplied walk-in inventory to the majority of its locations in Italy. In these designated regions, shoppers can visit physical stores to buy the phone directly, dependent on current stock levels. While the tech company has not disclosed the precise unit allocations for individual stores, heavy interest in Apple’s first foldable device means purchasers will likely need to move quickly.
Because India is excluded from the list of regions supporting walk-in sales, consumers there are required to place pre-orders before awaiting delivery or picking up the item at a store. This wait time could stretch further than anticipated. Multiple early purchasers report estimated delivery windows landing in January 2027, pointing to high demand or tight supply constraints.
Price and Variants in India
Standing as Apple’s costliest iPhone to date, the iPhone Duo features a 256GB base configuration priced at Rs 2,99,900, while the 512GB option retails for Rs 3,24,900. Additionally, the 1TB edition costs Rs 3,74,900, and the maximum-capacity 2TB variant reaches Rs 4,49,900. Apple sells the foldable device in two color choices: Star White and Night Sky.
The upcoming weeks will determine if the iPhone Duo can maintain high demand at such a steep price point. Extended shipping schedules and restricted stock availability may influence consumer reactions across India. Consequently, anyone who has not yet reserved the iPhone Duo could face a wait of several months before Apple releases new inventory or shortens delivery times.
