You know when your egg is cooked when it is done. You can test this by flipping it over with a toothpick. When there is still a bit of white on the yolk, so that the yolk is still white and not the egg white, it is cooked.
That’s right, boiled, and when cooked, it’s done. It’s so you know when you’re done.
As a rule, boiled eggs are always done when the yolk is still a bit white. Just like when you have a pot of boiling water it is done when the water just tastes good. When it is done the skin and white part of the egg are both still there.
If you really want to know, the egg needs to be cooked to the point where the white part is still white. When it is done this part of the egg is still white.
This one is something that I have a habit of being wrong on. So much so that the first time I tried to boil an egg I decided that I didn’t want it to taste good. In reality I probably didn’t want it to taste good because I didn’t want to have to clean up the mess of boiling an egg. That is why I always boil them without whites.
I mean, of course you can boil white eggs without the yolk, but that doesn’t make them “white.” To boil an egg without the whites is to boil the whites without the yolk. White-yolk-yolk. That’s a good way to describe it.
The reason I have to mention boiled eggs is because this video on Youtube, “How To Boil an Egg Without The Whites” is brilliant and shows just how difficult it is to boil an egg without the whites. It’s the exact same thing as boiling an egg without the yolk (boiled egg = white + yolk + egg white + egg yolk). So why does it sound like its difficult? Well, its because you have to peel the egg.
Its because boiling an egg without the whites is such a bitch. It’s so messy, so frustrating, and so much work. I mean, you need a pot, you need a pan, your eggs are usually hard and cold, and you don’t want to break them, but you don’t know how to do it. So you just go ahead and boil them from the inside out.
I’m not saying that boiling an egg and not watching it make it nice and soft and smooth is a bad idea. There is a whole category of boiled eggs I just don’t eat. This is one of them. But there is a whole category of boiled eggs I just don’t eat that can be boiled without the egg white yolk egg white egg yolk egg yolk.
The egg itself is something of a mystery. Many people have a hard time wrapping their heads around it. I think we can all agree that it’s not a very satisfying dish to eat. It’s also a lot of work. When I first started taking cooking classes (which is, like, the first thing you do after finishing high school) my instructor told us that he had to take all of his students to the store for each egg he had to boil.
