Google has begun deploying an updated Gemini overlay for Android devices, bringing in sparkling animations and the company’s newest aesthetic. The Google app update applies the Neural Expressive design framework to a broader range of handsets. Users can now experience floating dots and glowing particles framing the standard Ask Gemini interface.
This visual refresh started rolling out via a fresh app update on October 29, 2026. Initially, these animations were restricted to Pixel 11 hardware, leaving out users of other devices. The expanded distribution now brings this modernized look to standard Android owners without needing a hardware upgrade.
The most prominent modification occurs when summoning Gemini on top of an active app. The entry animation now features tiny colored dots and sparkling effects encircling the Ask Gemini search bar. While this update alters the assistant’s visual flair, its underlying capabilities remain unchanged.
Additionally, Google modified the appearance of the input box once the opening sequence concludes. The borders now incorporate delicate shading, lending the element a softer, somewhat three-dimensional look. This alteration stands out more clearly when using dark mode, whereas light mode presents far fewer noticeable modifications.
Rather than adding novel artificial intelligence capabilities, this overhaul centers entirely on aesthetics. Gemini still delivers context-aware help without forcing users to exit their active programs. Shortcuts like voice triggers and the power button continue to serve as methods for launching the overlay.
To obtain the new Gemini animation, Android users must update their Google app via the Play Store. Because Google releases these updates in phases, the interface may not show up instantly for everyone. Force-closing and restarting the Google application can sometimes prompt the fresh interface to load.
This wider release represents another milestone in Google’s push for a uniform aesthetic throughout its artificial intelligence ecosystem. Bringing the Pixel 11-derived styling to general Android devices allows Google to share its updated Gemini interface with a much larger user base.
