German gaming enthusiasts now have access to a custom electricity tariff tailored for households with elevated power demands. SWK ENERGIE, a public utility situated in Krefeld, has rolled out “meinGAMING,” a plan geared toward residences where streaming, gaming, and multiple power-hungry electronics drive yearly electricity consumption well past the national average. This plan features three distinct usage tiers spanning from 2,500 to 5,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually.
This unconventional offering arrives as top-tier gaming rigs demand substantial amounts of electricity, specifically machines built with powerhouse graphics cards and processors. That said, the plan does not route specialized power directly to gaming hardware. Rather, it applies a cost framework optimized for homes with high aggregate energy usage.
Three Plans Target Different Gaming Households
The Casual Gamer bracket is built for individuals who log a minimum of 10 hours weekly with a projected household usage of 2,500 kWh per year. The Pro Gamer category addresses more intensive users, such as those running high-end rigs, multiple systems, modding hobbies, or streaming configurations. This tier presumes 30-plus hours of weekly gaming alongside an annual household draw of 3,500 kWh.
The final tier, Gaming Households, caters to shared apartments or families housing at least two active players. It accounts for gaming across PCs and consoles totaling 50 or more hours per week, estimating a yearly consumption of 5,000 kWh.
Higher Fixed Charge, Lower Electricity Rate
The economic logic driving meinGAMING is simple. Subscribers face a steeper base fee alongside a reduced cost per kWh. Consequently, the arrangement is much better suited to residences with heavy total power needs than to casual players. Additionally, the utility promotes an energy price lock lasting up to 24 months.
Crucially, this pricing structure applies to the entirety of the home’s electricity consumption, rather than isolating gaming equipment. Someone who games often but maintains a low baseline usage might actually spend more than they would on a standard power plan.

SWK ENERGIE states that the electricity provided through the meinGAMING plan is generated entirely from renewable sources. Even so, buyers should weigh the offer against regional competitors, as its financial advantage relies heavily on geographic location, individual consumption habits, and prevailing local rates.
