On October 19, XRP traded near USD 1.31, pushing upward as Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies rebounded from the previous week’s downturn. Although the token advanced about 1% over a 24-hour window, the modest climb failed to offset its weekly drop of roughly 7%. Mixed signals stemming from exchange reserves and US spot XRP funds left traders uncertain whether a lasting recovery had taken hold.
Falling Oil Prices Help Lift Crypto Markets
This upward movement rippled across the broader cryptocurrency sector. Bitcoin advanced by roughly 0.79%, while the total crypto market cap climbed 0.71% over the same 24-hour span. XRP managed a slightly stronger gain as purchasers re-entered digital assets.
A pullback in oil prices helped alleviate inflation anxieties, which in turn bolstered risk appetite across the financial landscape. Additional optimism came from China’s third-quarter economic report, showing annual growth of 4.5%. Meanwhile, US stock futures and multiple Asian markets posted gains.
Buyers Return Near USD 1.27 Support
Prior to Monday’s bounce, XRP had been sliding. Buying interest picked up as valuations neared the USD 1.27–USD 1.30 zone, a threshold market participants have closely monitored during recent pullbacks.
According to CoinGecko, daily trading volume climbed to approximately USD 1.44 billion, marking a roughly 49% jump compared to the day before.
While this surge indicates heightened token turnover during the recovery, it provides no guarantee regarding how long the buying pressure will last. The daily Relative Strength Index hovered around 38, staying beneath the neutral 50 threshold. Furthermore, XRP hovered close to its seven-day moving average of USD 1.32. Both indicators underscored that the asset had yet to claw back much of its prior losses.
Exchange Balances Rise While XRP ETFs See Withdrawals
Figures from CryptoQuant introduced an element of caution. Analyst CryptoOnchain noted that cryptocurrency exchanges held about 11.81 billion XRP as of October 17—a volume sitting in the 99th percentile of exchange reserves recorded over the past year. Elevated reserves indicate a higher supply of tokens sitting on trading platforms, though such deposits do not automatically trigger immediate selling.
Concurrently, the derivatives market saw a reduction in leveraged exposure. Open interest for Binance XRP futures dropped from roughly USD 538 million on October 4 down to USD 453 million by October 17, representing a decrease of nearly 16%. Summarizing the dynamic, CryptoOnchain stated, “Leverage has reset faster than exchange supply has.”
In the fund sector, US spot XRP exchange-traded funds registered roughly USD 1.84 million in net outflows for the week ending October 16, halting a 13-week streak of incoming capital. Despite this interruption, overall cumulative net inflows hovered near USD 1.8 billion, based on reported fund data.
XRP Traders Watch Resistance and Ripple Swell
At present, USD 1.27 serves as an immediate support level, with USD 1.25 marked as the subsequent floor if selling pressure returns. Conversely, analysts point to the USD 1.34–USD 1.38 bracket as a primary resistance zone. These chart levels serve strictly as technical markers rather than assured price targets.
Ripple’s upcoming Swell conference, set for October 27–29 in New York, marks another focal point for the market. The gathering centers on tokenization, institutional finance, and payments, though whether it will generate catalysts capable of altering XRP demand remains to be seen. Until then, broader macroeconomic trends alongside exchange and ETF fund flows will provide the most reliable gauges of the token’s near-term trajectory.
