Apple’s upcoming entry-level iPad may resolve a major drawback plaguing the existing version. According to reports, the forthcoming device is set to combine an A19 processor and 8GB of RAM with the C1X cellular modem and N1 wireless chip. Crucially, these findings are drawn from Apple software code rather than mere guesswork. Consequently, the next standard iPad will support Apple Intelligence—a feature absent from current entry-level tablets.
While the present A16-powered iPad remains Apple’s most popular model due to its affordability and enduring battery life, resource constraints like a 16GB limitation prevented the integration of AI capabilities, including upgraded Siri features. Code unearthed within Apple software on September 25 points toward the company’s efforts to bridge this capability gap. Although unconfirmed by official announcements, reports point to a potential 2027 release.
Beyond the memory and storage upgrades, the forthcoming device is projected to sport an 11-inch LCD display, a flat aluminum chassis, and a Touch ID sensor. Among these updates, the transition to 8GB of RAM stands out as the most critical.
Furthermore, the N1 chip is anticipated to introduce Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity, while cellular configurations are expected to adopt Apple’s C1X modem for 5G. While these modifications may leave the tablet’s exterior unchanged, they promise to significantly enhance its longevity and utility.
As a processor three generations ahead of the A16, the upcoming A19 chip would introduce the graphics and media capabilities of Apple’s 2025 smartphones to the tablet lineup. Nevertheless, these details remain speculative and cannot be confirmed until official announcements are made by the company.
