Tesla has rolled out a fresh mobile app interface built specifically for expansive screens, bringing a tailored layout to iPads, Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo, Android tablets, and foldable phones. This update does away with the previous stretched smartphone interface, introducing a structured design that simplifies access to vehicle controls and home-energy metrics.
Alex Guichet, a Tesla designer, shared news of the deployment on October 21, noting that the app had finally arrived for larger displays. The release is occurring gradually, meaning it could take an additional week or two before the update reaches every user.
Two-Column Layout Brings More Controls into View
The updated application relies on a two-column configuration, placing navigation tools and controls on the left side while dedicating the right side to a larger rendering of the user’s vehicle or home-energy setup.
In the past, iPad users were limited to running the iPhone version, which did not include an optimized tablet interface. The updated architecture makes more efficient use of additional screen space, enabling individuals to view multiple data points at once rather than continuously toggling between different menus.
Car owners can navigate directly to menus covering Controls, Climate, Location, Charging, Security, Drivers, and Safety Score. Additionally, the updated layout highlights a prominent Customize Controls feature alongside a Show psi option for monitoring tire pressure.
Charging submenus stay visible right next to their specific details, streamlining navigation while adjusting vehicle settings.

Home Energy and Charging Features Get an Upgrade
Tesla has extended this overhaul to its home-energy hardware as well. The Home Status interface presents a clear breakdown of power movement involving solar arrays, a Powerwall battery, the residence, the utility grid, and any linked vehicles.
Meanwhile, the charging analytics section incorporates larger maps and graphs to help users examine their charging history and associated data with greater clarity. The expanded format ensures these details are genuinely readable rather than just stretched out versions of the phone layout.
Specific feature availability continues to rely on which Tesla products a user has connected.
iPhone Duo and Android Foldables Get Support
The redesigned software accommodates Apple’s iPhone Duo—debuting on October 23—as well as Android-powered tablets and foldable devices.
When used on the iPhone Duo, the expanded workspace displays on the inner screen, whereas the outer display defaults to the standard phone arrangement. This allows the software to dynamically shift depending on the active screen.
Rollout May Take Another Two Weeks
Within the US App Store, Tesla version 4.62.0 is available at no cost and necessitates iPadOS 17.0 or newer for iPad users. That said, the official release notes point only to routine bug fixes and enhancements without explicitly outlining the visual overhaul.
Guichet cautioned that the distribution process might require another one to two weeks while the development team verifies proper performance across all compatible screens. He additionally mentioned that further tweaks are anticipated in subsequent updates.
