Oyo State, Nigeria, October 13th, 2026 — KuCoin Nigeria Limited has secured a conditional Approval-in-Principle (AIP) from SEC Nigeria to join the Accelerated Regulatory Incubation Programme (ARIP). This step represents a significant milestone in KuCoin’s worldwide regulatory strategy, underscoring the firm’s dedication to reinforcing its global compliance structure and establishing a trusted digital asset infrastructure.
Throughout the AIP evaluation, KuCoin Nigeria showcased parts of its planned platform and operational design to SEC Nigeria. The presentation addressed the proposed offerings for Nigeria, customer registration workflows, fiat gateway operations, technological systems, as well as risk management and governance frameworks. This conditional AIP does not serve as an official registration, licence, endorsement, or recommendation from SEC Nigeria, nor does it permit KuCoin Nigeria to launch operations, accept clients, or provide services to the Nigerian public. Nevertheless, these preparatory steps highlight KuCoin’s emphasis on embedding local responsibility, safeguarding users, and managing risks within its proposed activities.
Thanks to a vibrant digital economy and a fast-growing digital asset landscape, Nigeria stands out as a premier global market for digital asset adoption and innovation. KuCoin maintains that fostering a healthy, sustainable digital asset market demands active dialogue between industry players and regulators, alongside ongoing enhancements in transparency, governance, user safety, and market integrity.
KuCoin’s regulatory engagement in Nigeria fits into a broader strategy to satisfy local mandates across critical regions. Within Europe, KuCoin EU holds authorisation under MiCAR to deliver regulated crypto-asset services throughout the European Union. In Australia, KuCoin operates via Axis One Markets Pty Ltd, which maintains registration with AUSTRAC as a digital currency exchange provider. Every individual authorisation or registration pertains strictly to its designated entity and activities inside that specific jurisdiction. None of these clearances permit KuCoin Nigeria to function or offer services within Nigeria. KuCoin stays dedicated to honoring local regulatory guidelines in every market, matching its operations with relevant laws, and securing the necessary approvals or registrations jurisdiction by jurisdiction.
BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin, stated: “Receiving conditional Approval-in-Principle from SEC Nigeria marks another important milestone in KuCoin’s global compliance journey. As digital assets become an increasingly important part of the global financial system, trust must be built through continuously strengthening governance, maintaining high compliance standards and enhancing user protection. We value the opportunity to engage constructively with SEC Nigeria through ARIP and to continue building in line with Nigeria’s evolving regulatory framework. Our focus remains on strong governance, high compliance standards and meaningful user protection as we support the responsible and sustainable development of the digital asset ecosystem.”
For KuCoin, compliance extends beyond simply ticking regulatory boxes; it serves as a foundation for long-term trust. Looking ahead, the company will pursue responsible innovation, bolster its global governance, operational durability, and user protection measures, and collaborate with regulators, partners, and sector peers to nurture a mature, transparent, and trusted digital asset marketplace.
