Robinhood brought in USD 120 million in cryptocurrency transaction revenue during the third quarter of 2026. This figure represents a 55% decrease compared to the same period last year, though it still surpassed analyst predictions. The company released these financial results on October 27, noting that a slowdown in crypto trading dragged down digital asset earnings. Financial analysts had anticipated USD 120 million to be USD 114.1 million instead. Meanwhile, the crypto segment accounted for just 8.4% of overall revenue, falling sharply from roughly 21% a year prior.
Combined cryptocurrency trading volume across Robinhood and Bitstamp dropped 38% to total USD 50 billion for the quarter. Robinhood’s proprietary application saw volume decline 48% to USD 21 billion, whereas Bitstamp processed USD 29 billion, marking a 28% decrease. Lower client engagement strained crypto income even as other corporate divisions grew.
Options and Prediction Markets Support Growth
Overall revenue for Robinhood rose 12% year over year, reaching USD 1.424 billion—marginally under the average analyst forecast of USD 1.43 billion. Options trading revenues grew 31% to USD 399 million, and equities income advanced 41% to USD 121 million. Furthermore, prediction markets generated USD 173 million, multiplying to more than six times their total from a year ago.
Prediction markets currently produce a higher income than Robinhood’s entire cryptocurrency division, underscoring a notable transformation in the company’s financial makeup. Diluted earnings per share came in at USD 0.51, missing the consensus projection of USD 0.55. The combination of this earnings miss and soft crypto performance negatively impacted investor outlook.
Robinhood Chain Adds to Crypto Revenue
As traditional cryptocurrency trading activity contracted throughout the third quarter, Robinhood further developed its blockchain infrastructure. Robinhood Chain generated upwards of USD 80 billion in decentralized exchange volume throughout its inaugural quarter on the mainnet.
The firm documented more than USD 50 million in total chain fees, which included USD 26 million in net revenue directly tied to Robinhood Chain.
This distributed ledger network introduces an alternative revenue stream for digital assets that operates independently of standard crypto trading. Even so, this expansion has not yet compensated for the wider contraction in crypto transaction income. Following the earnings announcement, Robinhood stock declined roughly 5% in after-hours trading.
