A sudden and dramatic decrease in battery longevity is currently being experienced by Google Pixel Watch users. While not impacting every device, reports indicate that smartwatches previously capable of running for 24 to 48 hours are now running out of power in under 12 hours. These complaints have surfaced across Reddit and various online forums, with owners of the Pixel Watch 2, 3, 4, and multiple generations highlighting identical issues.
Drain Without Heavy Use
Multiple users note that their battery levels drop by approximately 10 percent each hour. Others have documented a 20 percent loss over the course of a few hours, despite the watch remaining idle with the Always-On Display turned off.
A Pixel Watch 2 user shared that their device used to maintain nearly 48 hours of power per charge, but now lasts a mere 12 hours following the onset of the issue. Similarly, a Pixel Watch 4 owner noted a drop from two to two-and-a-half days down to less than a single day.
Because the power loss happens so swiftly—often manifesting over the past few days—owners believe it goes beyond the standard wear and tear of older batteries.
Software Bug Suspected
Evidence points toward a software-related problem instead of a widespread hardware breakdown. Affected users believe that a recent Wear OS update, an active background process, or a third-party application is causing the hardware to overexert itself.
As of now, Google has not officially identified the root cause, nor has the tech company released a dedicated patch or an official workaround.
Technology outlets monitoring the situation note that the issue spans multiple generations of Pixel Watch models. This consistency strengthens the theory of a software trigger, as individual battery cells across different device editions rarely degrade simultaneously.
Google is facing mounting pressure to address the situation and deploy a resolution. In the interim, impacted users are left managing shorter battery lives, performing frequent recharges, or executing full device resets.
