Director Liang Qiwei has verified that *Phantom Blade Zero* will contain a minimum of 50 boss battles, a count that could grow alongside the title’s robust arsenal.
S-Game’s upcoming action RPG from China, spearheaded by studio founder and game director Liang Qiwei (also known as Soulframe), will showcase at least 50 bosses. Furthermore, the experience introduces 30 primary weapons and over 20 secondary arms, all of which are unlocked by overcoming bosses.
These insights came to light in a roundtable interview with Japanese gaming outlet 4Gamer following a hands-on preview session held in Beijing. During the discussion, the team also addressed enemy creation and how battle situations will diversify as users advance.
Phantom Blade Zero to Feature at Least 50 Bosses
Liang noted that the quantity of bosses correlates directly with the weapon framework. Because participants collect gear by conquering bosses, a direct link exists between the gear options and the volume of major confrontations.
“Actually, there are more than 30 units. There are 30 main weapons and about 20 secondary weapons, all of which you can obtain by defeating the boss. There are bosses as many as there are weapons, so there are at least 50 of them, and in reality, there might be even more,” Liang stated, as translated by 4Gamer.
Enemy Designs Will Draw from Chinese Martial Arts
S-Game intends to keep a unified thread among distinct adversary classes via its kung-fu punk look, blending classic Chinese martial arts styles with fresh innovations.
As explained by Liang, users will run into combatants varying in stature, shield-wielding foes, and cavalry units. Even with these distinctions, the appearances stem from a shared foundation in traditional Chinese wuxia, augmented by original concepts from the team.
This diversity goes beyond mere aesthetics. Adversaries will vary by physical build and fighting tactics, forcing participants to alter their strategies for each encounter.
Liang additionally pointed out that enemy diversity will ramp up during the latter half of the campaign, indicating that progressively complex challenges await as the narrative unfolds.
