Petsmart is one of those places where the thought of not getting a new bag of chips might be the most terrifying thing about going in. Although I feel your pain. Petmart is the place where you are bombarded with the very worst snacks in America. It’s also the place that has the worst dog-related commercials.
With most pet stores, you can get a bag of chips without the thought of not getting one. Petmart has this one in a different tier. After you get there, you have to leave your bag and a dollar in the dog-related ad while they walk you through the store. Its a really bad idea.
For those hoping to get your dog to eat an actual animal, this is a dead end. The only time it works is when you buy the dog from a breeder. The breeder typically only gives the dog vaccines and treats, the dog doesn’t do any business with the breeder, and the breeder will tell you that your dog is from the breeder’s breeder.

In the short time I’ve been to Petsmart, I have purchased three dogs from them. The first one was from a small, young dog that died of cancer (his name is now a pet name!). One year later, I bought a female pug from Petsmart that I named Rosie. The second dog, a three-month-old, was from a small breeder in the midwest.
I think petsmart is a very shady pet store. Its policies are almost impossible to verify, and at times, they even lie to you. Ive tried to buy a dog from them, and when Ive gone in, they tell me theyve had no dogs in the store. Ive tried to buy a cat, and they say theyve got no cats in the store. They even lie about the breeds.
People who think Petsmart is a good place to buy a dog or cat should be aware that most of the dogs and cats are from flea farms. Petsmart’s pet sales are heavily influenced by the animals it sells; the company is a major supplier of cat and dog feed.
