Bharti Airtel has rolled out free international roaming for postpaid customers across India, starting October 8, 2026. Under the updated postpaid offerings, subscribers receive one complimentary international roaming trip per year for each SIM, a move designed to lower overseas connectivity expenses.
Every qualifying SIM is outfitted with 5GB of data, 60 minutes of voice calling, 25 outgoing SMS, and complimentary incoming text messages. This bundled package stays active for five days following activation.
The perk applies to both individual and family Airtel postpaid plans, ensuring that every family member can claim the yearly roaming allowance. Subscribers have the flexibility to trigger the package at any point during an overseas journey.
Rather than running concurrently with the billing cycle, the five-day validity period begins only upon activation, offering travelers greater flexibility over their complimentary international roaming allowance.
Airtel’s updated postpaid lineup begins at a monthly rate of Rs. 499 for solo connections. Family packages start at Rs. 749 covering two SIM cards and go up to Rs. 1,799 for a total of five SIMs.
Each tier guarantees one complimentary annual international roaming getaway per SIM. Furthermore, these options come bundled with unlimited data, voice calls, and network-level spam and fraud defense.
Additional perks scale depending on the monthly rental cost of the chosen Airtel postpaid option. The Rs. 499 tier features subscriptions to Xstream Play Premium and Google One. Costlier family packages incorporate services such as Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Apple Music, Apple iCloud+, and Netflix.
Amit Tripathi, Airtel Director of Market Operations, emphasized the comprehensive value proposition of the revamped postpaid selection. “Postpaid for us is about delivering the best-in-class experience in the Indian market,” Tripathi stated.
This update enhances Airtel’s standing within the expanding global roaming sector. While Vodafone Idea recently rolled out comparable roaming perks on chosen packages, Airtel has integrated the new perk directly into its core postpaid lineup.
Current Airtel subscribers can transition to the revised options via the Airtel App or by visiting an Airtel Store. This same upgrading pathway is open to users currently on legacy postpaid subscriptions or prepaid services.
