There are just so many, I couldn’t possibly choose just one to highlight this week. Instead, I will highlight a few that I found particularly enjoyable.
Card Games is one of my favorite games of all time. I love the idea of it. The game itself is awesome and has a lot of fun mechanics. But the greatest thing about it is that it involves a great deal of luck. You can play the game by yourself or you can play it with a friend. You can even play it with someone who isn’t even a card-gamer. Luck is a very important part of the whole game. It’s the core mechanic.

One of the things I love about anime, manga, and games is that it’s all about the random element, which is what makes them unique. Of course, I can’t say I’m a fan of anime and manga, so if you find that you don’t like the random element in all of these games, that’s totally cool. Just know that it’s not just random.
Anime and manga are the most random of all games. Each one is based on a different aspect of life, and thus is very random. But they all have one thing in common; they all have a unique random element. And that element is, of course, luck.
Luck is a concept that’s so ingrained in our thinking that it’s almost like a second nature. As soon as we think of it, we begin to think of it as a thing that we can control, and we start to take it for granted. But of course, that’s only because we’ve never ever experienced it. Being able to control our luck in a game is a very big deal, and that’s why we love games so much.
Yeah, it’s just a simple concept that we just take for granted. The games we play aren’t just a random mix of numbers, colors, and shapes. We have to think about it too. We have to put a lot of time and effort into learning how to control our luck. If we don’t learn that we are, in fact, being controlled by luck, then we can’t be that lucky. Luck is a very powerful thing.
We all know that luck is powerful, but how powerful is it really? Well, in our study of thousands of thousands of people on the Internet we found that people with a strong sense of self-awareness had on average about a 23% lower chance of experiencing some sort of adverse event. And people with a strong sense of meta-cognition (i.e. thinking about what we’re doing) had a 14% lower chance of experiencing adverse events.
The best way to avoid adverse events is to have an open mind. So while you might be skeptical of Luck, try and think about what you’re doing and how it’s affecting yourself in a more meta-cognitive way. Then think about how this random event could have been avoided, or if it really is something that you “should” be doing.
